Before cabins and (later) motels, there were campgrounds. Most were open-air facilities with shade trees. This one was part of a gas station-grocery-restaurant complex.

Corrugated metal provided shade over a concrete floor. Open sides were screened. The desert loses heat almost immediately after sunset, so in much of the year it would have been pleasant.

Ed's Camp is long gone and the place now appears to be the local dump.
