This is first-generation concrete paving, without expansion joints that allow for summer/winter temperatures swings. Nature took care of that with cracks.

This was a learning experience for the newly-established highway department. Still, despite design flaws, this first effort at road-building continues to carry local traffic more than 75 years after it was built.
