BRIDGE AND FORDING SPOT (Cimarron KS)

A bridge carries KS Highway 23 over the floodplain of the Arkansas River, now almost completely dry. This area was a popular fording spot for Santa Fe Trail wagons taking the dry Cimarron Route through what is now OK. And for the first 25-years of the trail, it was the US border with Mexico.
