FERRY #1 (Marysville KS)
A replica of the privately-owned ferry that carried pioneer wagons, livestock, and Pony Express riders across the Big Blue River. It operated from 1851-64 when a bridge replaced it.
A rope stretched across the river and was attached to pulleys on the ferry. Turning the wheel made the ferry move across the stiff current.
