Spanish moss frames a frontal view of this unique octagonal mansion, begun in 1859 and never completed. Northern craftsmen bailed when the Civil War broke out, and owners had to live in the partially-finished basement.

The interior has been kept as-is with rough brick and wood planks. Windows and a replacement spire have been added.
