Forks of the Road was the country's second-largest slave market behind only New Orleans. Until 1863, humans were bought and sold here much like cattle, and some families "Sold Down the River" were broken up.

Natchez today depends on casino revenue and mansion tourism. This site is noted but not promoted. There's no monument, just a few chains buried in concrete and interpretive signs.

Because it's sandwiched between a muffler shop and Jehovah's Witness hall, most people drive right by. Here in the Deep South, just off Liberty Rd. (Irony Alert!) descendants of slaves again receive inferior treatment.
