TOLL HOUSE IN RAIN (National Road Addison PA)
The National (or Cumberland) Road was our first improved road across the eastern mountains. The gallery mixes historic and contemporary scenes.
Since 1835 this westbound view has been shared by countless settlers in Conestoga wagons, riders on horseback, and ordinary folks in Model-T's. The stone building crowds the narrow right-of-way on the hillcrest.
An artistic effect has been added.
