BATTLEFIELD #1 (Lincoln Highway Gettysburg PA)
Gettysburg was a pivotal Civil War battle and site of President Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. It was a well-visited site along the Lincoln Highway.
More than 7800 Union and Confederate soldiers lost their lives here during July 1-3 1863. That's more than today's population of Gettysburg, a city that largely lives off the battle.
Here, before dawn, the lights of the city, my own light-painting efforts, and headlights from passing vehicles create an eerie scene. The time-exposure lasted almost two-minutes. The statue is of US Army Major-General Winfield Scott Hancock.
