The scene is from a garage at the Blue Swallow Motel where then-owner Bill Kinder had parked his classic car for the night. I came upon this arresting combination of light, shadow, fin and fantasy right at dawn.

Murals decorating much of Tucumcari are by local artists Doug and Sharon Quarles. Ones on the Blue Swallow were done by other painters.
