JOHN'S MODERN CABINS #1 (Rt 66 nr Arlington MO)
They're not John's, or modern, or even cabins now--just ruins.
This old small cluster of rustic buildings began with log cabins in the 1930s. John Dausch bought the place in 1951 and ran it until he died 20-years later.
Ruins remained visible even after I-44 replaced Route 66. But then the Interstate got moved to eliminate a bad stretch. That left John's out of sight on a dead-end section of the Mother Road.
The buildings are now between terminal decay and collapse. This image from November 2011 shows today's actual faded colors, unlike some other pictures now in print and on-line.
