STATE LINE MARKER & RUIN (Rt 66 Glenrio TX/NM)

STATE LINE MARKER & RUIN (Rt 66 Glenrio TX/NM)

The combination gas station-motel-and-restaurant in the background is just over the line in Texas. Originally, it had a sign reading (in this direction) "First Motel in Texas." On the other side was "Last Motel in Texas."

Faded red arrows on the building are part of a Phillips 66 gas station color scheme. They are lined up artistically with the rusted marker, but the actual state line is left of the image.

The steel marker is identical in design to iron ones shown in the National Road gallery.

WARNING: The marker is along a treacherous sandy County Road that should not be attempted except by 4-wheel drive.
