POST OFFICE RUN (Rt 66 Depew OK)

POST OFFICE RUN (Rt 66 Depew OK)

Rain glistens on original concrete that was Route 66 from 1926 to 1928. This woman is running back to her car after going into the Post Office at right.

Depew is a sister city to Radiator Springs.

In 1928, Depew was the first Rt 66 town entirely bypassed. Some of the early bypass is still visible north of town next to modern Rt 66--two lanes of blacktop. Then in 1953 came the Turner Turnpike, later called I-44. The nearest entrance is 7-miles away.
