Sunbonnets were ugly but practical...you never knew what they concealed. Sometimes a fellow traveler received a very pleasant surprise.

The wagon is displayed at the Kearny County Historical Museum in Lakin KS, along the Santa Fe Trail. (Lakin is not on the California or Oregon Trail.)
