Nothing remains of the 1863-80 era fort that helped guard the joint Oregon-California Trail through here late in its use. The statue of a soldier in back was put up by locals in the 1920s.

In front is a replica Lincoln Highway marker for the 1913-26 road that passed here using section-line roads: the Gothenburg Stairsteps.
