Two branches of the Lincoln Highway went between Sacramento CA and Fallon NV, along either side of Lake Tahoe. This, the northern route, later became US 40. The southern route became US 50.

Rocklin CA has done a beautiful job of landscaping an ordinary median into a scenic and enjoyable parkway.
