This old sign has been repainted and decorated with quotes from Ghandi. The hotel is now a private residence.

Memphis is the birthplace of the modern franchised motel business. The first Holiday Inn opened in 1952...threatening the business model of traditional hotels, like this one, and mom-and-pop motels with irregular quality. The original Holiday Inn on Summer Ave. is long gone and only a plaque marks the spot.
