When this '57 Chevy was brand new, the Starrucca (Sta-RUCK-ah) Viaduct had been in use more than a century. Built for the Erie Railroad in the 1840s, the 17 arches are up to 100-feet high with piers of locally-quarried bluestone.

Alas, there's no steam locomotive use here anymore--and hasn't been since the time of the Chevy. So my images concentrate on the beauty of the structure and how it plays off its surroundings, a small town in a wide valley formed by Starrucca Creek.
