COHOES FALLS #1 (Erie Canal Cohoes NY)

COHOES FALLS #1 (Erie Canal Cohoes NY)

The Cohoes (Ka-HOES) Falls are up to 90-feet high and 1000 feet across. A tremendous barrier to navigation, they were one reason for constructing the canal.

In Autumn water flow is relatively low exposing the rock formation. The falls can dry up some years in mid-summer. Spring brings a torrent of snow-melt.
