This diagonal view is from street level with the entrance canopy at right bottom and the Spirit of Light at right top. This offers a cross-section of the facade, showing how designers used light, vertical massing, and small decorative elements to create a masterpiece.
This went up in 1932, the very bottom of the Great Depression. In 1952--an era of prosperity--architecture turned austere, and Lever House opened in New York City.
