BRIDGE VIEW (Rt 66 Topock AZ)
The view is west into California. The Colorado River, which forms the boundary, is beneath the lovely 1916 Old Trails Arch Bridge--built for a predecessor of Rt 66, and used until 1947. It is now a support for natural gas pipelines.
In the Grapes of Wrath movie, the Joads stop just before crossing--and when they pull back on 66 their overloaded vehicle begins to tip.
At far right is an eastbound BNSF train, the successor to Santa Fe which used this route for decades. Some trains are two-miles long.
