The Pharr Mounds are in the background, the remnants of a vanished civilization that lived here some 2000 years ago. There are eight mounds in all, two have been restored.

In the foreground, hay is being harvested--scooped up and automatically put into round bales worth $30 or so as animal feed during the winter.
