The first settlers came to Callao (CALLEY-oh) in 1857. There was a Pony Express and stagecoach station here--but the claimed structure may not be authentic.

This is a pioneer-era notched log building used for farm storage despite a top that is more lattice than roof. It works for photography though...repeating the pattern of distant mountains that still have snow in late June.
