FORLORN & FOR SALE (Lincoln Highway Kimball NE)

FORLORN & FOR SALE (Lincoln Highway Kimball NE)

Billed as the "most glamorous hotel between Omaha and Denver" at its opening in 1918 it is far from that now. A local wheat grower built it to capture Lincoln Highway and Union Pacific Railroad business. Dwight Eisenhower stayed here during a 1919 US Army tour that led to the Interstate system bearing his name.

The elaborate front includes lettering of offset light brick. But the wall is separating from the frame and bulging near ground-floor windows. The hotel has been closed for years and lacks a reason for being.
