This is the heart of downtown Las Vegas NM, population 15,000. It is much older than Las Vegas NEVADA and until 1940 both were roughly the same size.

Buildings in the background are the Plaza Hotel and a one-time department store, both from the 1880s. The Farm Worker sculpture is public art by Peter E. Lopez and ties the scene together.
