TOWN, COUNTRY (@'60 LINCOLN) (Rt 66 Springfield IL)
This top-of-the-line car radio had chrome everything! Five push-buttons for the AM stations of your choice, two knobs for volume and manual tuning, and the unique Town/Country buttons.
The Country setting boosted antenna gain, allowing distant stations to come in. This was helpful on long trips down Route 66, especially at night from Texas westward.
And what about FM? A decade would pass before it was available and widely purchased, even in luxury cars like the Lincoln.
