REFLECTIONS ON SKY CHIEF (Rt 66 Springfield IL)

REFLECTIONS ON SKY CHIEF (Rt 66 Springfield IL)

Part of a replica Texaco Sky Chief pump globe captures other gasoline memorabilia in reflection. There's a Route 66 shield, a 1950s truck and streamlined aluminum trailer, a visible pump, part of a Pennzoil curb sign and a vintage porcelain steel Texaco sign. Stare hard enough at a good monitor and you can even see a Mobilgas globe, in reverse, above the visible pump!

Adding to the bygone nature of everything, most of the reflection appears in black-and-white. This may be due to optical qualities in the replica globe. Or maybe it's magic!

This scene is from Shea's Gas Station Museum, looking outward, with Route 66 near the trees. An artistic effect was added to the entire image.
