The former Lincoln Highway at right has become an expressway approaching Omaha's west side.

For all its fame, the 1940-era sign shows unexpected stone cracking and impromptu repairs. Lightning Arrestors have been retrofitted and snake down each side, distorting the profile.

The sun is directly behind the sign and an artistic effect has been added.
