USED CAR DINOSAURS (Rt 66 Amarillo TX)
The sign originally was for Sinclair gas. The station, probably from the 1960s, is now the office for a busy used car lot.
This sign has a unique component: a neon retro-fit. The surrounding white tubing, with four segments on each side, was not part of Sinclair's design--so some money went into this. A segment at the bottom of the sign has broken.
If I owned that used car lot I would have killed off Sinclair's dinosaur. (And hired a painter who knew there's no apostrophe in autos.)
Instead, I would have stuck the Happy Face in the middle, not just on the yellow flags. That's the image you want for a used car lot: nice and friendly, and in the public domain so it's royalty-free.
