1958 was Cadillac's Year of Chrome. GM's design team really piled it on, especially along the front. There are two of these unnecessary pods, on either side of the front bumper under the dual headlights (a first in '58).

This monument to excess would stand for only a single year though. In 1959 came an all-new body style for Caddy, with fins that became an exclamation point for the decade.
