FLAG AND STARS (Rt 66 nr Bristow OK)
This large flag appears to have both a patriotic and practical use--shading a front porch. The rock house may well have been part of the passing scenery back when Route 66 came through here on twisting concrete along a narrow right-of-way.
This stretch is now known as the Tank Farm Loop, a bypassed section with rusting oil storage tanks.
It recalls the up-close driving experience found along bypassed sections of the old National Road from western Maryland to eastern Ohio.
