This station was state-of-the-art for Route 66. This late-50s design used painted concrete block instead of porcelain steel panels. The swooping and pointed roof visible in the image leads to a stylized steel tower once topped by the Phillips 66 sign.

Construction of I-44 adjacent to Route 66 doomed it. The exit is horribly inconvenient. Friendly Philcheck Service wasn't enough--and this modern station closed its doors forever.
