In "The Grapes of Wrath" movie, Grandpa dies and is buried near the west end of the bridge. And in real life, Dorothea Lange photographed a young couple and their two children hitchhiking here in 1938. The image is "On Highway 66, Oklahoma" and several variants have appeared in print.
