There's always something fresh and newly-painted at the Cadillac Ranch. Sometimes it even makes sense.

In a dozen or so trips I've been interested in seeing the rapidly-changing graffiti, of course. But also how people interact with the cars, and how they "leave their mark."

The ten finned Cadillacs are visible from Rt 66, now merely an I-40 frontage road about 10 miles west of Amarillo TX. (They were never actually on the original Rt 66.)

In this shot, a young artist, his backpack full of spray paint, is adding his contribution to the collective layers of pigment (now thicker than the original metal). The closest Caddy offered a nice windbreak for me. And the bright sun produced a pleasing shadow of him in just the right location.
