Williams thrived longer than anywhere else on traffic from Route 66. The first serious bypassing started in the early 1950s. But the Interstate wasn't opened outside Williams until 1984.

Some gas stations elsewhere lost 90% or more of their business when the Route 66 era ended. This station simply traded one type of full service for another.
