FORT OSAGE #1 (Sibley MO)

FORT OSAGE #1 (Sibley MO)

This partially-reconstructed frontier fort was a stopping point, and source of protection, very early in the Santa Fe Trail saga. It was built in 1808, and operated during the first two years of Santa Fe caravans. By then the frontier had moved west and the fort was abandoned.
