A long train heads down BNSF tracks next to US 56. The railroad is the successor to the AT&SF that built to Santa Fe, reaching there in 1880, making the trail obsolete. It is now covered in this area by US 56.

The signboard and line of stones are in a roadside historic park showing the approximate junction of the Santa Fe with the Oregon and California Trails.
