BURLINGAME #3 (Burlingame KS)
Santa Fe Street is extra wide allowing U-turns by ox-drawn wagons. And perhaps allowing a booming future metropolis to grow and thrive along this wide boulevard. Unfortunately, that never happened--the population peaked in 1890.
This is a busy mid-day scene on old brick pavement installed not for ambience or charm, but for practicality. In the parking area between lanes, a barbecue lunch trailer has opened for business.
