Occupied by a mystic, Giovanni Augustini. In 1863 he walked alongside a wagon train to Las Vegas NM, supposedly curing the sick and performing miracles. He took up living on a mountain nearby, known today as Hermit's Peak.

Rocks at right have been added to help form a stairway from what is now a street above.
