MORMON SITE #3 (Nauvoo IL)

The Mormon Temple framed by the arch is from 2000 and overlooks the Mississippi River and into Iowa.

Nauvoo was a pivotal spot for the polygamist group. Founder Joseph Smith was jailed, then killed by a mob in nearby Carthage. Most followers left Nauvoo, many for Utah, after his death in 1844.
