A cell in the old Carthage Jail where Mormon founder Joseph Smith was held for trial on a charge of treason. He died trying to escape a mob by fleeing through a window in a neighboring unbarred room.

The dramatic lighting perhaps recreates that of 1844. Daylight through small windows might have been augmented by candles casting dramatic shadows through bars.
