Images in this series are from St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral downtown. They show, indirectly, the development brought by the Erie Canal, completed in 1825. Construction began less than 25-years after it opened, as Buffalo rose from a frontier settlement to a wealthy city. The cathedral was consecrated in 1851.
