NACK-ah-tish is the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase, not just the state. It was the setting for the 1989 film Steel Magnolias.
Images concentrate on the Historic District and nearby homes, many now bed and breakfasts. Other photographs highlight massive trees, mainly live oaks and magnolias, with buildings as decoration.
Natchitoches is 70 miles (115 km) SE of Shreveport, and 270 miles (430 km) NW of New Orleans.
