SUNKEN TRACE #4 (Natchez Trace nr Port Gibson MS)
Part of this scene appears in National Park Service brochures. Here, the wide view shows how the old trace changed with time. Animals and men caused erosion contributing to downed trees at left. Travelers created a new path, and eventual gully, at right. Both end at a road crossing a short distance away.
This is a straight photograph. A companion image is offered with a linen postcard effect.
