CSA MONUMENT #1 (Natchez Trace Port Gibson MS)

CSA MONUMENT #1 (Natchez Trace Port Gibson MS)

This weathered monument to the Confederate States of America was put up in 1900 during an era of White repression and violence against Blacks following the Civil War. Claiborne County has the nation's highest porportion of Blacks, 89%, perhaps explaining why this glorification of a slave-based economy has not been maintained. A detail shot is also offered along with the full monument.
