Images in this series are of the Bicentennial Capitol Mall downtown. This was originally an area of natural springs and salt licks. Bison and other wildlife created what is now the Natchez Trace to reach this area from the south.

A giant carved state map occupies the foreground while tourists take in the State Capitol in back. The hill is real but the "slant" makes for a more interesting photograph.
