The sign may date from 1924, the year this railway overpass went up. It is clearly aimed at drawing passengers, a business that was then beginning a long decline that proved fatal to many railroads.

The Frisco never actually made it to San Francisco. Tracks went out to TX and OK where they linked to other railroads. The Frisco was absorbed into BNSF in 1980.
