LINCOLN MONUMENT #1 (Lincoln Highway Sherman Summit WY)

LINCOLN MONUMENT #1 (Lincoln Highway Sherman Summit WY)

Access is from I-80 Exit 323 at the Summit Rest Area. The monument towers nearly 50-feet above the mountainside--the highest point on I-80. Created by Wyoming artist Robert Russin in 1959, the bronze head alone is more than 13-feet tall.

The Lincoln Highway through this section is generally the second generation, now an I-80 service road. The original followed an abandoned railroad grade.
