TIPPECANOE PLACE #1 (Lincoln Highway South Bend IN)
This 1888 mansion was home to Clem Studebaker who started with a blacksmith shop. He and his brothers became the world's largest manufacturers of horse-drawn vehicles. Studebaker entered the car business in 1902.
The mansion, on the edge of downtown, is now an upscale restaurant. Here it's pictured as the long South Bend winter gives way to spring in early May.
