This 1918 bridge over Carson Creek is far wider than the original 1914 concrete on either side. There are many contemporary examples of precisely the opposite--some on the Interstates.

Perhaps those in charge here realized the folly of constructing a narrow bridge that would need replacement, or doubling with a second bridge, in a few years.
