VANTAGE POINT (Lincoln Highway Donner Pass CA)
A solitary figure surveys Donner Lake, the Rainbow Bridge, Lincoln Highway and remnants of the Transcontinental Railroad. I-80 is also in the distance.
This is a candid shot. I didn't disturb him, and don't think he was aware of my ant-like presence.
Donner Pass was chosen for the Central Pacific's crossing point in the 1860s. Some railroad structures remain although the tracks are long gone. Those images are in the "Twin Streaks of Rust" gallery.
